Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway
Location: Boston, Massachusetts

The Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway is a wonderful place to spend an hour or two strolling through Boston's waterfront neighborhoods. For decades this area was an urban cavern of darkness, literally in the shadows of an elevated highway. After decades of planning, "The Big Dig" began in 1991, which ultimately resulted in two miles of newly available greenspace. The Kennedy Greenway stretches from the area near South Station all the way to Christopher Columbus Park at the entrance to the North End, linking a series of parks of several different personalities. Food trucks, a wide variety of children's activities, beautiful organically-managed urban gardens, sculpture, and water features are wonderful discoveries in the midst of the city. ~TimClick here for a slideshow of this Inspirational Garden
