Jay Sifford, Landscape Designer, "Stroll Gardens" - March 20, 2023 at 7:30 Dunwoody Nature Center or Via Zoom

12/18/2022 2:44 pm

North Carolina Landscape Designer Jay Sifford joins us on Monday, March 20, 2023 with a brand new presentation on "Stroll Gardens - The Nuts and Bolts, the Magic and the Metaphor" at the Dunwoody Nature Center, 7:30 pm.  This presentation will also be live-streamed via Zoom.  Social time begins at 6:30.

"Not all those who wander are lost", a quote by JRR Tolkien, is one of landscape designer Jay Sifford's favorite quotes.  It is the inspiration for his new talk, "The Stroll Garden:  The Nuts and Bolts, the Magic and the Metaphor."

A well-designed stroll garden can help you develop the art of strolling. In this talk, Sifford addresses all of the elements that make this type of garden a metaphor for life, from creating a memorable garden entrance that sets the tone for the experience, to laying out pathways that are rich with discovery, to destinations and axial focal points, to "planned serendipity," and to garden "jewelry" that celebrates the experience. The talk will inspire you to create or recreate your garden into a magical, immersive one that Sifford describes as a place where fantasy and reality collide and, as a result, your imagination is free to soar.
